More timpanies from Scattered Entity

Two timpani patches in this track: "Bouncing Timps Granular" made with granulated samples of dropping rubber balls on the timp and then moving the pedal up and down (sending the sound through the Auto Wah FX in the end of the demo) - and "Timpani Dynamic Rolls" with several dynamic timp rolls/swells at different velocities, long/short/hard beater/soft beater...sub-bass fiesta!

Waterphone Contemplation

After  5 days of cutting and editing waterphone samples I know have a great collection of sounds. Here is a demo using 4 instances of MachFive, each one playing a different waterphone patch. There are 2 keyswitchable Trio-patches involved, where you can choose on the interface which 3 samples/trios you're playing, how you want them mapped, sampling or granular, lot's of modulation options, then there is the Long Bow Pad in the 2nd half of the demo, with 13 multisampled long pitches over the entire waterphone range using a violin bow, sometimes crossfading different parts of a recording to get these ethereal sustained sounds. The metal percussion is also waterphone. There will be about 600 MB of waterphone samples (around 100 samples) in this library.

Waterphone Sphere

Ambient demo combining the first three waterphone patches from Scattered Entity for MachFive 3 - 100% waterphone sounds, 100% MachFive 3.
The percussive sounds were made by hitting the bottom of the waterphone with a soft beater, the patch has 6x round robin samples and produces some great sub-bass frequencies.

Granular Piano Snippets

Improvising with the MachFive 3-patch "Granular Piano Snippets" - 21 keyswitchable piano snippets isolated from recordings where several performers are treating a Steinway grand, on the keys and inside the piano. Tweaking the 8 assigned Macros via Midi Controllers on the fly. 100% MachFive 3.

Singing Bowls from Scattered Entity

Here is a video playing around with the now scripted MachFive 3-patch "Singing Bowls Trio Split" from the sound library Scattered Entity Vol. 1.

3 differently sized singing bowls, multisampled at 3 velocities/3x round robin, split across the keyboard. As you see in the vid each bowl has a dedicated panel with lots of options to shape/micro and macro-tune/twist/modulate/animate the sounds around, on the second scripting page you'll find all the FX.

MetaVox for Alchemy released on patchpool

MetaVox for Alchemy is build around the exceptional overtone and throat singing of Gareth Lubbe, a true master of his craft. As Gareth is actually a professional orchestral viola player this library also contains several patches with viola sounds, the viola being a string instrument with a great resemblance to the human voice. During the recording session we also recorded duets of Gareth singing and playing the viola at the same time, these sample make for some more beautiful and wondrous sounds in Alchemy.

There are also patches with female vocals, using samples which were recorded during a recent session with Frauke Albert, a renown german vocalist (soprano), working mainly in the field of contemporary music.

As an additional string instrument some sounds also use violin samples, another instrument which has a very voice-like character and blends beautifully with the vocals sounds in this library.

Besides using the original vocal and string samples (and resynthed derivatives thereof) for making the Alchemy patches, I am fascinated in the microcosmic interior of harmonics, so I produced quite a few electronic derivatives of the samples, created by e.g. detaching the harmonics from the root note, then deleting the root note only leaving the harmonics which are then furtherly processed, timestretched, spectralized, tuned to a tempered scale and more.

So you will find a broad spectrum of sounds reaching from meditative overtone drones to fascinating throat singing to otherworldly vocal soundscapes, from technoid and pulsating sequencers to beautiful vocal pads and textures, from warm string pads with an orchestral character to experimental noises from a different universe.

You can view/download the PDF for this library with more details, the licence agreement, some pics and the patchlist, including playing tips and descriptions for each patch here.

MetaVox Specs:

  • 1.8 Gigabyte of original samples (wav) and resynthed files (.aaz)
  • 56 patches with 8 variations each in Alchemy's Remix Pad, all Performance Controllers and both x/y-pads are assigned for each patch.
  • Delivery: download - RAR-archive in 3 parts for better download handling - download size: 1.4 GB
All samples in this library were recorded with 3 Neumann microphones in L-C-R in 48 Khz/24 Bit, a U87 as the center mic - a stereo set of KM 184 for L-R.

Please note: This library requires the full version of Alchemy (version 1.55 and higher). It does not work with the Alchemy player version.

Kontakt 4 - 66.6 MB unzipped - 48Khz/24Bit/stereo - 4 nkis/Instruments
38 Samples compressed using Kontakt's ncw format - 2 Impulse Responses
Price: 7.50 €

Content:
This soundset contains 4 guitar flagolet patches played on an acoustic western guitar and sampled in L-C-R using 3 high quality Neumann microphones. These samples and their electronic derivatives were originally produced for my Alchemy Bank Warped Strings.

There are 4 instruments/nkis available:

3 Flago Chords Split XFade
3 flagolet chords plucked with the fingernail and their electronic derivatives split across the keyboards:

  • Chord 1 - C0 - B1 - root note E1
  • Chord 2 - C2 - B3 - root note E3
  • Chord 3 - C4 - C6 - root note E5

Controls:
The Modwheel crossfades between the pure flagolet samples and their electronic derivatives. You can reverse the samples using the keyswitch B-1, the default setting for normal playback is A-1.

A modified script from the factory library gives you control over:

  • Knob 1 - Attack
  • Knob 2 - Release
  • Knob 3 - Lowpass Filter Cutoff
  • Knob 4 - Temposynced Filter Modulation
  • Knob 5 - Modulation Speed
  • Knob 6 - Convo Reverb Mix, an Impulse Response made with good old EMT245 is creating the reverbration
  • Knob 7 - Chorus Mix
  • Knob 8 - Chorus Speed

Pitchbend is set to +2/-2 semitones.

4 Coin Flago Chords Split XFade
4 Flagolet chords and their 4 electronic derivates plucked with a coin (Euro) split across the keyboard.

  • Chord 1 - C0 - G#1 - root E1
  • Chord 2 - A1 - D#3 - root E2
  • Chord 3 - E3 - G#4 - root B3
  • Chord 4 - A4 - C7 - root B5

Mini Bank The Vase for Alchemy released on patchpool

The Vase for Alchemy is a Mini Bank, containing 15 patches made entirely from a multisampled vase using unprocessed samples for beautiful and delicate mallet-like instruments and processed, spectralized and metasynthed samples for pads, synths, soundscapes and otherworldly noises.

The vase was played with soft mallets, hitting it at the top, bottom and side, recording 10 variations for each hit (10x Round Robin). It was also played with the hand for claydrum-like sounds (9xRR), it was rubbed with a drumstick, it was filled with water for nice drips and drops and it was resynthed to create keyboard-like instruments.
All vase samples were recorded with 3 Neumann microphones in L-C-R in 48 Khz/24 Bit, a U87 as the center mic - a stereo set of KM 184 for L-R.

As in all my soundsets for Alchemy I make extensive use of Alchemy's complex modulation possibilities and filters, often intermodulating LFOs/MSEGs/Sequencers with each other and assigning numerous parameters to a single Controller. This enables the user to deeply interact with the sounds and shape it according to his needs and preferences. Also the patches can serve as a starting point for the user's own creations when loading new samples into them and then using the pre-assigned Controllers and Snapshots in the Remix Pad.

You can view/download the PDF for this library with more details, the licence agreement, some pics and the patchlist, including playing tips and descriptions for each patch here.

The Vase Specs:

  • 229.1 MB of original samples
  • 15 patches with 8 variations each in Alchemy's Remix Pad
  • Delivery: Download
  • Library size in total: 240 MB

NOTE: This Sound Bank requires the full version of Alchemy.
It does not work with the Alchemy player version.

Price (paypal): € 11 Euro

All demos were produced entirely with Alchemy using only patches from The Vase, no post-processing was applied apart from a Limiter on the Outputs.

And a video demonstrating the patch "Water Stabs" - audio is slightly off sync but you get the idea.
